Projects and ongoing research
Among the several research projects we have ongoing at the moment is one of the history of the many communities that made up Grayson County.
We recently had an inquiry about the Clito community during the time that the mill(s) were operating from the mid 1800's to the 1930's. As we began researching, we found that very little information had been recorded and we are endeavoring to find people with a memories or stories of these areas.
We are attempting to identify and locate newspapers that have existed in the area throughout the county's history. This information may lead to a book detailing the ways in which news and information has been passed around since the earliest days of the area and the effect on the lives of the people. Any information can be called in or emailed to us and will be greatly appreciated and credited.
In cooperation with the World War 1 Centennial Commission, we are collecting photos and/or stories of the men of Grayson County who served in World War 1. Both to preserve their stories but also for displays and outreach efforts to educate people of the sacrifices made by these men.
